EA Sports announced today via Twitter that they will be pulling the Chicago Blackhawks’ star right-winger from the NHL 16 cover.
His removal is result of a woman alleging that Patrick Kane raped her at his home in Hamburg after leaving the nightclub SkyBar, located in downtown Buffalo on August 1st. An ongoing investigation conducted by the Hamburg authorities is in the process, and Buffalo News has reported that sources close to the investigation detailed bite marks and scratches on the body of the victim.
EA Sports released this statement on the allegations and on-going investigation:

The new NHL 16 cover replacing the old one which feature Patrick Kane and Johnathan Toews holding the Stanley Cup has been replaced by a cover with solely Johnathan Toews.
Electronic Arts proper as well as EA Sports catch a lot of heat in the gaming community for their questionable actions when it comes to publishing and developing games. However, EA Sports with it’s diversified FIFA 16 covers that include women, in addition to this excellent showing of compassion to the alleged victim of Patrick Kane during this NHL 16 cover issue, is worth applauding — sometimes monolithic, faceless corporations get it.
NHL 16 will be released on September 15th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
