As reported by gameranx, EA has registered a trademark and domains for a project titled Javelin. In several screenshots below, EA filed a wordmark with Europe’s OHIM, and filed applications for the domains Javelingame.org and Javelingame.com.
The game doesn’t seem to be connected to any current franchise, unless the game is under some type of codename. More than likely, we’ll find out at E3 what exactly Javelin is. Although, the catalog of games coming out for EA this year are fairly dry considering Mass Effect Andromeda has been pushed back to Q1 2017. Javelin could potentially be released this year as a way to fill the void for a lack of titles being put out by EA later this year.
It is hard to tell what type of franchise Javelin could be. Would you like to see EA venture into something more adventurous? Mirror’s Edge is certainly under that category and was able to get a sequel being released May 24, 2016. It is doubtful that EA is going to venture into another shooting franchise with Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield, and Mass Effect already being major franchises. It would certainly be interesting to see something more experimental such as Mirror’s Edge.
