Electronics Arts announced that the newly acquired Star Wars: Battlefront franchise will alternate with the releases of Battlefield.
Word came from EA’s first quarter earnings call and good news it was. This means that the Medal of Honor series is being taken out of EA’s steady rotation (poor sales and horrible reviews will do that) and that EA is giving Battlefront a more serious treatment than it ever had before.
The franchising (pre-planning of sequels) shows a devotion and faith to the Star Wars license which –with DICE studio’s expertise– should make them a pretty penny.
With Battlefield 4 set for release later this year, can we expect a Star Wars game as soon as next year? It’s looking that way. Keep in mind that EA Labels President Frank Gibeau has stated that Star Wars: Battlefront is “well into development”.
