E3 2014 | Gauntlet's E3 Trailer Unveiled, Gear Up For Battle

The original arcade dungeon-crawling hack-and-slash game is getting yet another reboot as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a new trailer for Gauntlet, an homage to a classic conceived by developers and publishers of Atari Games in 1985.

The trailer focuses on several eye opening and newly implemented game mechanics that’s gear toward enhancing gameplay as players control one of the four character classes–Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie and Elf. The Gauntlet remake covers most of what fans would usually expect, but the developers at Arrowhead Game Studios have thrown in a Relics system that allow for a heightened advantages as players traverse deeper inside caves, pits and dungeons. In the trailer, the Elf uses the Relic’s power to multiply himself before launching a hoard of arrows at his enemies. Valkyrie Relic power grants her the ability to unleash gusty whirlwinds and freeze her enemies. Grant the power of the Relic to the Warrior, and he’ll incinerate his foes into flame as he charges through them.

The trailer also shows that players will be able to play dress-up with their favorite classes, mixing and matching various types of gear, armor and weapons. These sets of threads make all four of these fighters look even more powerful and intimidating.

While players are combining their useful powers to best foes, traps and bosses via local co-op or online, all four of them will also be competing for the ultimate prize of riches and fortune as they get closer to the end. This rebirth version of Gauntlet appears to be just as promising and rewarding as the original that released in the arcades so long ago.

While the official digital download release has been set for September 3 on the PC, Gauntlet will be getting it’s shine with gamers from at E3 this year. Pre-ordering the game will grant players DC Entertainment’s Gauntlet: Darkness Calls, a comic-book spin-off the dungeon crawling slobberknocker. Will you conquer the darkness come September? Peep the trailer below.
