E3 2012 | Square Enix Tech Demo: Agni Philosophy

Agni’s Philosophy is a brand new real-time tech demo that just managed to slip through the watchful eyes of Square Enix at this year’s E3. Tech demo’s like these are often shown behind closed doors, and are usually the first visual representation of what the next generation of gaming hardware are capable of.

Within the first few minutes of Agni’s Philosophy, I can tell the technology that powered this demo is next generation. I’m leaning more toward some high-end PC used to run this demo in real time or maybe, just maybe, it could’ve been a console.

When you have this many particle effects on screen and a high amount of detail without any shuddering between the transitions from fast pace action to literally none at all. It’s usually a clear sign of high end hardware being run in the background somewhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was all ran on a PC featuring NVidia’s new GTX 680’s graphics card, which are being touted in the PC gaming community as monsters.
