E3 2012 | Dead or Alive 5 Release Date and Tournament

Tecmo KOEI has announced today at E3 that the latest Dead or Alive 5 will be released September 25, 2012.  Furthermore, a  massive competition will be held to determine the best Dead or Alive 5 player in the world.  Fighting fans, you may now breathe a sigh of relief. Ahhhhh.

Of course, this is E3, so there’s more.  Team Ninja, the guys who are creating the game, (You know them from that other game, Ninja Gaiden) also tell us that the cast will be enlarged, most notably with characters from Virtua Fighter.  Including cast members from other fighting games is a first for the Dead or Alive franchise, so who knows where it may lead from here.

Perhaps most importantly, Dead or Alive 5 will hold a tournament at E3 on Friday, June 5th at 1:00pm and 4:00pm, June 6th at 12:00pm and 3:00pm, and June 7th, at 12:00pm for the finals.  The tournament is being held in collaboration with IGN Pro League (IPL).  You can catch all the action via IGN’s live broadcast by following this link.

Lastly, the E3 tournament is just the first part of a multi-month competition to determine the winner of the “I’m a Fighter” world champion, which will be held shortly before the game’s launch in September.

As always, keep it locked here on The Game Fanatics for the best coverage on all things E3, and let us know what you think of Dead or Alive 5 in the comments below.
