Signal Studios has announced their new game, Ascend: New Gods, a third person RPG where you pledge service to one of three gods, and act and their champion and help them rule supreme. It also features very, very large enemies, if the trailer is any indication.
I love 3rd person RPGs, they’re probably my favorite sub-genre of games. However, many lately have been rather bland and generic. If you want to get people to play your game, you’ve got to do something to elevate yourself above the rank and file. Luckily, Ascend looks to be trying a few things that make it worth following. First of all, it will be free to play. No word on premium content, but the game itself will be free to play. Also, there looks to be a mobile component for the game. Lastly, it’s single player, but your actions will affect other players. This part is a little vague, but it looks as though you’ll be able to cast curses and blessing on other characters, and the overall strength of your chosen god will affect gameplay.
For now, check out the trailer. Stay tuned for more on Ascend: New Gods, and be sure to stay with us for all your E3 coverage!
