Dragon*Con | CCP Talks World of Darkness, DUST 514, and EVE Online

CCP Manifest and Bill Bridges, senior content designer at CCP Games and Whitewolf, held a meet and greet here at Dragon*Con in Atlanta on Thursday and talked about DUST 514, EVE Online, and the upcoming World of Darkness. While information was scant concerning World of Darkness, we got the nitty gritty on all that was said.

CCP has had an office in the Atlanta area for a while now, but just recently a new office was opened in Decatur, Georgia that has top of the line utilities that help the company produce World of Darkness. CCP Manifest says, “The old office wasn’t suited to our needs.” He goes on to say that CCP needed better meeting space and a better location to recruit international hiring prospects, and that “the Decatur area is a little more enticing.”

I asked if the opening of the new office was in preparation to really ramp up production and become more public in regards to the Atlanta office’s main focus: World of Darkness. CCP Manifest confirmed that this was part of the reason, and that in the future, more information will definitely be coming out of the office regarding the upcoming MMO based on Vampire: The Masquerade pen and paper game a lot more next year. CCP Manifest confirmed that World of Darkness was definitely still in development and that the Atlanta office is hard at work after a night of hard partying for the grand opening.

Not much could actually be said about World of Darkness because a lot of the game is still in the process of being designed, but the crowd was able to tease out a few morsels of information from the closed-lipped CCP staff members.

First of all, CCP Manifest confirmed that there will be non vampire supernatural beings in the game, but that if the availability is ever offered to players, it won’t be at launch. Bridges confirmed that the character creation process concerning stats will be familiar to those who are familiar with the pen and paper game; a very diplomatic answer! He also hinted that out of clan abilities may be learned at a more expensive cost than clan abilities.
