Destiny’s Hot Fix 2.5.0.2 Gives The Crucible A New Feel

Destiny‘s Hot Fix 2.5.0.5 Is here, and brings welcome changes

On February 8th, Bungie gave us a glimpse via a Twitch stream of the changes Hot Fix 2.5.0.2 would bring to Destiny. The update was mainly focused around Destiny‘s PVP mode, The Crucible. Bringing many changes to the table, including changes to weapons and character sub-classes. The community reacted very well to specific changes and others left us wondering, exactly why would Bungie make that adjustment?

Need Special Ammo?

A major change that was implemented was how the special ammo economy works. Players will now lose all special ammo that they’re currently carrying at the time of death. All special weapons across the board are affected by this change expect Sidearms. Bungie made sure we’re still able to get our special weapon kills by making special ammo available every 60 seconds during battle. This change should entice Guardians to play more with their primary weapon out as they stay alive long enough to farm special ammo.

Major Weapon Changes

Guardians were overwhelmed with the fact that many Hand Cannons shots would not hit the target as intended, something known as ghost bullets throughout the community. Not only were our shots not connecting to our enemy target but eventually our cause of death would be due to the infamous Matador64 Shotgun. The PVP community spoke and Bungie listened! Bungie has reworked Hand Cannons to have the initial accuracy as they did in Year 1, reduced their based range from 40m to 35m, and reduced minimum damage falloff from 50% to 33%. Shotguns on the other hand are the gun type that was affect the most by the update, some notable changes are Shotguns no longer deal precision damage (The Chaperone and Universal Remote are unaffected by this change) and Shotguns have significantly less in air accuracy.

Our Take

After the update was released on February 14th, we jumped straight into the Crucible, testing a variety of weapons. Personally, I was impressed how good Hand Cannons feel once again. Shots connecting to my target at a variety of ranges with noticeable damage. I noticed players now using a wide variety of weapons, before the standard was always the Clever Dragon and Matado64. Hot Fix 2.5.0.2 gives the Crucible a whole new feel. I’m genuinely enjoying Destiny‘s PVP once again. For full patch notes visit Bungie.net.
