Crusader Kings 2 Expansion Offers Players a New Way of Life

Crusader Kings 2 is the Middle Ages grand strategy game from Paradox Interactive and today marks the release of a new expansion for the title.

Way of Life is the ninth expansion and promises to “add more depth to the games role playing elements, leaving you desiring nothing from real world social gatherings!” As always with Paradox Interactive games, a free patch was released to compliment the expansion. Players will be able to enjoy Way of Life for free via multiplayer if a friend has the expansion.

“Face up to the toil, struggle, pain, strife and hardships of leadership in the latest expansion for Crusader Kings II.”

The focus of the expansion is to give the player freedom to live life the way they want to. Paradox Interactive teased players by giving examples of a peaceful mystic, a family man or a master of war as some of the many ways to play. Each playstyle offers a different tale and presents different opportunities to shape your empire.

Here are the main features of the expansion:

  • Set a Focus (a “way of life“) for your character to give them an immediate skill boost, develop their abilities and determine the kind of events and decisions they tend to get (there are ten of these focuses: Rulership, Business, Hunting, War, Family, Carousing, Seduction, Intrigue, Scholarship and Theology.)
  • Hundreds of new events and 20 new images.
  • Many new diplomatic interactions (Duel, Seduce, Banish to Monastery, Break up with Lover, etc)

Three Collectors Editions of Crusader Kings 2 are also available. Paradox Interactive describe the “Royal Edition” as “The quintessential statement package for the fan who lives the gamer lifestyle.” Along with the game, these offer Crusader Kings 2 style t-shirts, mouse pads, hipflasks and more. It’s the perfect Christmas gift for any strategy fan, Paradox fan or collector.

Crusader Kings 2 Expansion Offers Players a New Way of Life 1

Crusader Kings 2: Way of Life requires the base game to play, but none of the previous expansions. It can be bought from the Paradox Store or Steam for $7.99/£5.59 and can be played on Windows, Mac or Linux.
