Apocalypse, the best of the worst in the X-Men universe, seems to be in firm control according to the upcoming movie’s latest trailer.
There will be movies in 2016, and the vast majority of major releases will involve a ridiculous amount of brightly-colored tights and screaming. One of the earlier examples of such will be the third in the First Class trilogy – X-Men: Apocalypse – and a different cut of the trailer shown during San Diego Comic Con has finally graced the internet in high definition.
Among the footage can be seen James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, and new faces such as Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Archangel (Ben Hardy). In an interesting angle, the titular villain seems to be meeting, and overpowering, Charles in a mental dimension during one scene – basically Xavier’s home turf. This interest may evolve even further before the movie releases on May 27, 2016.
In the comics, En Sabah Nur, as the villain was first known, is an immortal mutant endued with technology from Celestial beings a.k.a. gods. He has a vast array of powers that no other being in the universe can match on paper that include matter manipulation, superhuman strength, DNA manipulation, and the ability to cull would-be adversaries to his side. The four horseman serve as a rotating list of those that have fallen under the spell of Apocalypse with Wolverine and Gambit being two of his most well known trophies.
