CES 2014 | Valve Unveils 12 Steam Machine Partners

Valve‘s Steam Machine, the PC gaming company’s attempt to invade the living room space typically dominated by gaming consoles, will be made by at least a dozen names in PC manufacturing. An early report by Engadget lists the following manufacturers signed on to do their own versions of the Steam Machine:

  • Alienware
  • Alternate
  • CyberPowerPC
  • Falcon Northwest
  • Gigabyte
  • iBuyPower
  • Origin PC
  • Materiel.net
  • Next
  • Scan Computers
  • Webhallen
  • Zotac

Valve has a press conference expected to go into further detail on the Steam Machines set for this week at CES 2014, and that could include more Steam Machine partners or more details on the PC/Console hybrid and its unusual controller, including hopefully a solid pricing structure. Valve sent out 300 of “beta” versions of the box last year to lucky Steam users, and early teardowns estimate the cost for the highest-end model to over $1,500, a price Valve will need to bring down if they want to win over the console gaming crowd.

The Game Fanatics has several staffers live and on the ground at CES 2014 this year, so keep checking back for the latest CES details and reports!
