Who needs the luck of the Irish when you can have the Luck of the Zafords in Borderlands 2? Gearbox Software announced today that for this weekend, to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, all Borderlands 2 players can get some free alternate skins – green-themed of course – as well as a cool new weapon in the Luck of the Zafords weekend from March 14th thru 17th.
During the promotion, you’ll see a better increase in drop rate and shield rarity, and Absorb and Booster shields will work better. Those that enter the special SHIFT codes get a free skin for their characters, plus a new gun: a Chulainn SMG that will match the level of the first character you load.

It’s the second piece of news Gearbox has released today regarding Borderlands 2: the other announcement is that a new character named Mayhem is going to be coming to the game, along with an increase to the game’s level cap, and will be debuting at PAX East later this month.
