To celebrate the upcoming Warner Bros. release of Justice League in November, DC Comics has planned Justice League Day on November 18th; the day after the film is released. The film is the latest DC Comics adaption for the big screen.
Bringing together characters previously revealed in Batman v. Superman, the film is hoping to be a launching point for upcoming Aquaman and Flash solo movies. The movie follows the events of Batman v. Superman as the heroes are gathered to fight off the otherworldly Steppenwolf.
For Justice League Day, DC is offering up an event-specific reprint of Geoff Johns and jim Lee’s 2011 Justice League #1. The variant will feature a new cover by Ivan Reis and Marcelo Maiolo. DC Comics is offering up the variant to the public as a free treat.
In addition to the comic variant, the company is also giving away free sets of Justice League 2″ x 2″ temporary tattoos. There are seven tattoos: Justice League, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the Flash, and Cyborg.
The event marks DC Comics ongoing attempt to hold events at comic stores to generate more buzz on their books. Comic shops have been struggling for years and events like these help pull in new readers as well as those that have not stepped in a shop in many years.
