BMW is always one step ahead in terms of direction and innovation and now they’re looking into the future of headlights, testing out laser headlights that couple potentially replace LEDs.
Laser headlights are above and beyond the current LEDs that are used in vehicle headlights clocking in at nearly 1,000-times brighter and using significantly less energy. You’re might be questioning why we need headlights that are 1,000-times brighter when today’s LED headlights can nearly blind you, but BMW says that the new laser headlights will be “very pleasant to the eye.”
If the testing goes well, I guess we can expect to see these new headlights making their way into BMW’s lineup sometime within the next few years.
