Blackwood Crossing Surprises with a Fascinating New Trailer

Blackwood Crossing

The first creation from the studio PaperSeven, Blackwood Crossing, brings the story of two siblings searching for their own identity in a magic, sometimes spooky, world.

One of the latest surprises in Gamescom this year has been presented by a British indie studio called PaperSeven. They have taken the opportunity to reveal a brand new trailer of their upcoming first title, Blackwood Crossing. The game is currently scheduled for the first months of 2017 and will come for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And it’s looking pretty intriguing already.

This is not the first time that we see something about this enigmatic game. Back in June, the studio already teased their main protagonists and the main driving force. Namely, the search for identity of two siblings, for their lost parents and for a past that they seem to have forgotten.

What we Know about Blackwood Crossing

As we can see, the game follows a first-person adventure style. We will play as Scarlett, a teenager trying to traverse the complicated path into adulthood. She wakes up on a moving train, discovering that her younger brother Finn, whom she has not seen for a while, is with her. What’s more: they are not the only travelers on board.

The trailer already conveys the powerful dynamic of human relations, love and loss. Plus some bites and pieces of the spooky, the surreal, the magical. By the looks of it, this probably won’t be a mild experience at all.

As we start discovering the extraordinary nature of that train journey, there’s another voyage that needs closure: the relationship between these two siblings. Blackwood Crossing talks about the progressive alienation between two worlds: infancy and adolescence. We’ll be forced to examine what ties us to younger Finn, to uncover the gap between him and us. And as we gradually reveal the depths of Finn’s distress, the consequences of that distance will become shockingly clear. And there is also a creepy rabbit around, of course, which will make for interesting scenes.

This story of struggle is definitely in our radar. We’ll cover more details about PaperSeven’s creation as they come. Stay tuned!
