Battlefield 1 Confirms Monthly Updates, Platoons and More Expansions

Battlefield 1

Battlefield 1‘s first paid expansion, They Shall Not Pass, was released less than two weeks ago and the team at DICE have already showcased how the game’s future will look. And believe me, they are just getting started.

The first major announcement is the appearance of monthly updates. According to their latest blog post, this change in frequency reflects the wishes of the community. These updates will allow DICE to address issues faster. These updates won’t offer massive content additions, instead these updates will offer necessary extra tweaks and balancing measures. For instance, the May update is aiming to add quality-of-life improvements, such as streamlining the flow into matches. The team is also working on updates for their Rent-a-Server Program.

Another feature that shines bright on Battlefield 1‘s roadmap is the addition of Platoons. These will appear in the upcoming Spring Update. We do not have concrete details about them yet but Platoons seem to broaden the possibilities of playing with friends.

“Finally, you’ll be able to organize and join forces with your friends, execute swift victories, and achieve goals as one unit,” said DICE on their blog.

Multiple Expansions Coming to Battlefield 1

The developer also talked about what’s in store in future content expansions. In other words: new maps, vehicles, weapons, factions and game modes (don’t hold out hope for new single-player stories though).

On their blog post the team talks about the next expansion, In The Name Of The Tsar. As its name hints, players will jump directly to the Eastern Front and all the bitterness of the Russian war zone. Apart from this one, they have also announced the names of the last two: Turning Tides and Apocalypse. We’ll stay tuned to discover which locations will these unlock. The reality of the Great War was a big one and DICE still has a lot to offer.

How do you feel about this, Fanatics? Have you played Battlefield 1 and are looking forward to all these additions? Let us know!
