ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) announced the release of the Strix GL503 and GL703. The two new Strix laptops are designed with gamers on the go in mind. The 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch laptops are both thin and light despite the impressive internal power. Both laptops are packed with Intel Core i7 processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphic cards.
The Strix laptops are defined by their distinct and sleek look and design. Along with a brushed metal finish on the lid and deep red of the thermal fin, the package will impress in its simplicity. Although the base models contain impressive internal parts both laptops are easily expandable, with the ability to accommodate up to 32 GB of RAM.
Size
When comparing gaming laptops one of the biggest factors is the size and weight of the machines. Typically higher computing power means bulky and heavy machines that aren’t exactly meant for portability. The Strix GL503 in particular looks to turn those ideas on it’s head. Clocking in weighing just 5.07 lbs and with a profile that is just 0.91-inches thin, it is a welcome sight for gamers on the go. For gamers who don’t want to sacrifice performance for portability, the Strix line is a great solution, especially for VR gaming.
Customization
Both keyboards come backlit by Aura RGB technology, allowing the creation of customized lighting schemes. The WASD key group is highlighted for easy identification and location along with N-key rollover and anti-ghosting technology. In addition, each key also benefits from a 0.25mm keycap curve to aid accuracy.
The Strix laptops also feature built-in smart-amplifier technology that delivers loud yet smooth sound. The system also automatically monitors and reduces intensity of output to prevent damage to speakers to ensure audio consistency.
Upcoming Models
The ROG Strix SCAR Edition, which is scheduled for release by end of the year; was built with FPS gamers in mind. The SCAR Edition comes with an Intel Core i7 processor and a GTX 1060 GPU. The display has a 5ms response time coupled with a 120Hz refresh rate that work together for smooth visuals that eliminate motion blur.
For MOBA players, the ROG Strix HERO Edition also features an i7 processor and a GTX 1060 GPU. A 120Hz wide-view display eliminates lag and motion blue while a 100% sRGB color gamut provides consistent light intensity. The HERO Edition also features a desktop-style keyboard with a 20 million key-press lifecycle for extreme durability.
The Strix GL503 and GL703 are available right now from ASUS retailers. The GL503 starts at $1099 while the GL703 starts at $1149.
