The definitive collection of BioShock‘s time in Rapture will be hitting the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 soon. 2K Games announced today that BioShock: Ultimate Rapture Edition, which has been rumored about as early as last June, will be released on January 14, 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It collects BioShock and BioShock 2, as well as $40 worth of downloadable content, for $29.99. The Challenge Rooms Pack that was previously a PS3 exclusive is a part of both versions.
Other DLC and bonuses packed in include the Museum of Orphaned Concepts — basically a look at concept art amid a “museum” set within Rapture — as well as a rank increase for BioShock 2 multiplayer, the Minerva’s Den storyline expansion for BioShock 2, and the Plasmids Pack, which brings four new Plasmids to the first BioShock.
With BioShock Infinite on the way in March, this release looks like a great deal if you’re either thinking about jumping back in, or getting started for the first time. Speaking of Infinite, the Ultimate Rapture Collection also includes an exclusive BioShock Infinite sticker pack, so you can decorate your stuff with advertisements for the Hall of Heroes Memorial Gift Shop.
As of now, there’s no word on a PC version for the collection, but you can get both games bundled for fairly cheap already if that’s any consolation.
