The Xbox LIVE Marketplace has claimed a few more victims to its growing arsenal of vanishing XBLA titles, 6 of them to be exact. It’s no mystery that sometimes games on the marketplace go ‘missing’. It can be due to a handful of reasons. Some of which are expired contracts to rights (like licensing to a car or music), the company shuts down, or other reasons. But what all of the games removed have in common, is that they always vanish without warning.
The games that have been removed within the past month or so are the following:
- Sega Rally Online Arcade
- OutRun Online Arcade
- Inferno Pool
- Merv Griffins Crosswords
- Roogoo
- Screwjumper!
- Kung Fu Strike
The game Kung Fu Strike released on XBLA a little more than 2 months ago (September 5th, 2012), but has since been removed. Its listing on xbox.com shows a pretty decent overall review, and it’s original release date has been pushed back to June 12th, 2012, so its removal is odd to say the least.
One consensus that most every gamers can come to, is that it would be nice for a bit of a heads up if a game is about to be removed from the marketplace. It might spawn some sort of ‘going out of business sale’ that could yield a bit of profit before the game is gone for good.
