When development for Pro Wrestling X started in 2002, I was pretty excited. After 10 years though, I had pretty much forgotten all about this project. I stumbled across this YouTube video this morning, and the crazy part is that these guys are still working on it and seem to be just as dedicated now as they were then. You rarely find that much passion by game developers, especially for a niche market like pro wrestling.
Pro Wrestling X‘s aim is to bring back the fun and excitement of the classic wrestling games like WWE: No Mercy, WCW Revenge, and to bring you a game with a focus on gameplay rather than extra modes and unneeded features. The game will be released on the PC. To give a taste of what’s to come in the full game (whenever it’s finished), the team is releasing a smaller game called Pro Wrestling X: Uprising, which will feature only 1-on-1 matches and 8 characters. Basically a demo.
The game’s Lead Design, Eric Wishnowski gives his “State of the Union” video below!
