What We Played for Week Ending April 22: William Speaks Pokemon

This is a weekly segment where we share what games we are currently playing for our readers to get to know us a bit better. Said games can range from retro to current and from casual to FPS games. If we’re playing it, we’ll share it. Please feel free to comment with what you’re playing or your opinions on the games that we’re involved with.

Jen: Played a little bit of the Diablo III open beta however it was a tad laggy for me and I ended up going back to SWTOR, which is what I’ve been playing this week. I want to get to level 50 already! Currently I am almost to level 45.

Jake: While the MoP beta lies waiting, I’ve been busy with the Diablo III closed beta, and then switching to TERA‘s beta during the weekend.

William: Been playing Legend of Dragoon, and Tera / Diablo 3 betas. I’m pretty impressed with some of Tera actually. The Mystic class (the support one) is a wonderfully crafted class so far. Combat aside I’m trying to really evaluate how the classes synergize both within the scope of their skill kits and with other classes. So far, Mystic is the shit.

Diablo 3 a little less so actually. So far I’ve tried the Wizard, and he’s pretty bland. Trying the Monk tomorrow.

Legend of Dragoon is as awesome as it ever was.

Jeff: I started my third or so run of Batman: Arkham City to follow up my recent Batman: Arkham Asylum playthrough. I’ve also started Metroid Prime 2: Echoes after a narrow victory against the Metroid Prime in the first game. But my gaming moment of the week (and possibly the year) goes to the final boss of Luigi’s Mansion. It’s been a struggle to best King Boo ever since I got a Gamecube less than a year ago, but my time came this week. He tried to burn me, bomb me, and crush me, but I stood firm and kept my grip tight on the trusty Poltergust 3000. When it came to the final blow, I had been worn to my very last health point, and he to his final few. Against the odds, on a rooftop in a freakin’ thunderstorm, I had finally done it. Mario was freed, the King was conquered, and Luigi’s ghost-busting days are over. Or at least until the sequel releases this year. Sweet, sweet victory.

Ben: This past week I’ve enjoyed finishing up Fez which is amazing. Go see my review for more information but know that it is amazing. Did I mention amazing? Amazing.

Also this week I started playing the first Witcher. It is shaping up to be a very fun RPG experience. Wish I could have gotten to it sooner.

Finally, I’m playing through Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis on the Ps2 which is somewhat related to the Atelier series of games. It has a large focus on item synthesis, so much so that the sphere grid-like leveling system only unlocks new rewards when you synthesize certain items. It’s a game I’ve been meaning to play since I bought it 3 years ago. The last time I tried to play it my save file ended up being corrupted 20 hours in. This time I have saves all over the place.

Tavia: Beat Halo this weekend. Played lol with friends and even won some and William trained me like a Pokemon.

William: Via tav tav Tavia?

That’s right. I speak Pokemon.
