EA Says No to Printed Manuals

In April 2010, Ubisoft quit packing printed manuals with new games, and it seems as though this will be the new trend. Looks like EA has joined the band wagon and scrapped their printed manuals as well. When Fight Night Champion releases, EA will scrap the physical manual, and instead, have a digital copy in the game itself. Some gamers are not satisfied with this decision. Some are complaining that it takes away from the magic of buying a new game, while others don’t really care. Sure it is nice to open up a game and smell the freshly printed manual, glance through the pages for a bit, and then toss it aside.

However, EA Sports’ spokesperson, Rob Semsey, said the shift was done to be more “green”. Think about it, if 100,000 games are shipped with manuals, then that is a lot of paper. In the long run it will also save the company more money as well. Now whether it will be a good or bad thing, that is up to you. I am neutral on this subject at the moment. Let us know what you think by posting your thoughts in the comments below, and lets see if we can get a good debate going!
