April is a good month for PS Plus Holders and Xbox Live Gold Members. Both platforms are stacked with some notable freebies this month. Sony is really hitting home with the nostalgia for the month of April showcasing some retro reboots and really pushing out those PS3 and Vita games, as this being the last year they will be offered though PS Plus.

Mad MaxMad Max  welcomes you to an open world, action-adventure game inspired by the Mad Max films. This game is a fun change of pace that everyone could use; with it’s unique, vehicle combat you’ll craft the ultimate destructive car to take out enemy marauders in this beautiful apocalyptic landscape.

 

Track ManiaTrackmania Turbo is an arcade racing game with 200 pre-built tracks where you can become the racing master. But the fun doesn’t stop there, you can also create and share your own custom tracks to really push the limits.

 

Those who are retro fiends and appreciate the classics then get ready for what PlayStation has in store for you this month. From In Space we Brawl  a Space, twin stick, 4 player shooter and 99VIDAS a unique, retro 16-bit side-scrolling brawler….

 Q*Bert: Rebooted Toy Home

To extreme throwbacks such as, Q*Bert: Rebooted a Classic 2D arcade game from the 80s, fully re-imagined in 3D and even Toy Home a vintage game that makes use of PlayStation’s motion controls.

If Retro and racing really aren’t your fancy or maybe Xbox is your dedicated home console, then get hype because Xbox has a few heavy hitters this month. Taking a look at Xbox’s Games with Gold April line up also showcases a lot of variety; from Survival Horror to Puzzle Based and even Racing, this month is really looking good for Xbox Live Gold Members.

The WitnessWhat used to be a PS4 exclusive is finally making its way to Xbox. The Witness is an open world, single-player game uniquely driven through puzzles. With dozens of stunning locations to explore and over 500 challenging puzzles that keep your mind at work.

 

 

Assassin's Creed SyndicateAssassin’s Creed Syndicate is an Assassin’s Creed game worth playing, completely outshining it’s predecessor Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Syndicate transports you back in time to London during the Victorian Era where players control the two lead protagonists—twins Jacob and Evie Frye—throughout the game’s story.

 

Cars 2: The Video GameCars 2 allows players to jump into the Cars universe with a international spy twist. With an array of Cars characters at your disposal, players take on a racing, spy adventure. A great selection for  youngsters and families who love the franchise.

 

Last but most definitely not least,

Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2 takes place three years after the first Dead Space, where there is a new Necromorph outbreak in an all new location. While playing the original will increase your connection to the game’s lore and tormented protagonist, Dead Space 2 is equipped with a recap video for those who haven’t played the first installment. However, what really makes this game stand out the most is it’s unique multiplayer experience.

No matter which platform, this month’s free games are a great excuse to take a break from the online multiplayer games you’re grinding and dive into a single player. (or at least download them when they’re free)
