Skullgirls Developer Recruits Studio Trigger for Their Newest Game

Lab Zero Games announced they are teaming up with Studio Trigger, the Japanese animation studio that has worked on shows like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gurren Lagann, and Kill la Kill have teamed up to create the intro animation for the upcoming role-playing game Indivisible.

Lab Zero Games and publisher 505 Games said that they will also be collaborating with another studio called Titmouse to storyboard the animation, and once that’s finished they plan on sending it to Studio Trigger in Japan.

Yoh Yoshinari, the key animator, storyboard artist, and director at Studio Trigger, is revealed in the announcement video to be in charge of directing the opening animation. He’s known for his work on Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Little Witch Academia, so you know it’s going to look cool.

The campaign for Indivisible began earlier last year and has been powered through fans pitching in money to their Indiegogo post. Lab Zero promised to do things once they reached a certain tier amount, and one of them was for partnering with a mystery anime studio to create a “high-octane” opening animation. Right now Lab Zero Games is sitting at over $1.9 million in funding for the production of Indivisible, which is 124% more than they expected.

The next stretch goals are full voice overs for all of the major characters, multiple endings, and a bonus hardcore dungeon.

Indivisible is a 2D action role-playing game that uses the style of Skullgirls combined with elements from Super Metroid and Valkyrie Profile. You play as a young girl named Ajna who embarks on a quest to find out the origins of her powers. Throughout your journey you meet different characters who join your party and help you out in battle to defeat the many monsters you’ll find on your way.

Stay tuned for more info on Lab Zero Games as we follow the development of Indivisible.
