Lionsgate released the very first teaser trailer for Power Rangers for its New York Comic Con panel. We got our first look of the this worldwide franchise coming to the big screen next year.
Power Rangers is the re-imagining the of the classic story that many of us grew up on. Five ordinary high school students will have to become extraordinary as an imminent alien threat puts the world in danger. Due to this threat, destiny brings our heroes together and forces them to overcome their real life issues and band together as the Power Rangers to save the world.
Fans of the original television series will recognize iconic characters such as Jason, Billy, Kimberly, Trini, Zack, and even Rita Repulsa. Don’t raise those pitchforks just yet fans, Zordon and Alpha 5 are going to be there as well. Directed by Dean Israelite, the Power Rangers features a cast with Dacre Montgomery, Elizabeth Banks, Bill Hader, Bryan Cranston and more.
It appears the Rangers meet for the first time in a Breakfast Club sort of setting at school. From there they venture off to a restricted area and by destiny, they receive their powers. As a result, we can see them learning about them, honing their strength and ultimately accepting their fate. With only a glimpse of the Power Rangers getting their suits, the trailer ends and we want more. I know I want to see the Rangers in action with their suits and eventually their Zords. While we received a first look at the Zords via official character posters recently, it does not satisfy that desire. Sadly, it appears those things will come to light in the next trailer as we get closer to the film’s release.
Power Rangers will be in theaters on March 24th, 2017.
