Things have been rather interesting here at the Game Fanatics lately. We’re currently planning a move to a new server, so a lot of our writing has been postponed. But that just means this week’s In Case You Missed It will be chock full of great news! So let’s dive on in!
In Case You Missed Konami Being Konami…
Sharpen your pitchforks. With the announcement of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Definitive Experience, fans began to wonder if Mission 51 (aka the actual ENDING of the game) would be completed. Konami promptly replied, “Ah, no.”
In Case You Missed Nintendo Letting You Have Fun…
Those days are over. Last week, Nintendo filed DMCAs on over 550 fan games hosted on GameJolt. The past few weeks have not been kind to fans of Nintendo properties, as many popular fan works such as Pokemon Uranium and Another Metroid 2 Remake have been shut down. And now 550+ more join them in legal purgatory.
In Case You Missed Modding the **** Out of Fallout…
Get ready to get sucked right back in. NVIDIA (yes, that NVIDIA) published a new mod last week for Fallout 4 titled “Vault 1080.” It’s a quest mod that takes players to an abandoned church in the middle of a nuclear wasteland. The main feature of the mod is its graphical capabilities, which makes sense given that it’s made by a graphics card company. It’s currently only available for PC users, but then console users won’t fall into the pit of modding. Go in for the pretty graphics, come out with Thomas the Tank Engine.
In Case You Missed the “Civil” Chat About Paid DLC…
By “Civil,” I’m referring to the War. The latest battle over whether developers should charge for DLC comes to us live from Steam, where popular dinosaur survival game ARK has recently released the Scorched Earth expansion. This new DLC features a new desert-themed map, new creations, new creatures, and dragons! And it’s $20. In many respects, the expansion is pretty large and could be justified in its price tag. The problem comes from the fact that ARK is still in Steam’s Early Access. In other words, the game isn’t technically out yet. Feel free to make your decisions now, or you could quickly read through the developer’s side of the story.
In Case You Missed Playing Solitaire…
For many gamers (such as myself), Solitaire was the first video game we ever played. Then it became the game we played at work to pass the time. Then it became a distant memory, a relic of the past… or so we thought. Apparently, Microsoft has announced its Solitaire Collection has reached 100 million unique users. To celebrate, the game will be coming to iOS and Android devices.
And that just about wraps things up this week. I hope you enjoyed this edition of In Case You Missed It! If we missed anything, let us know in the comments. Until next week!
