Spiritual Successor to P.T. ‘Allison Road’ Cancelled

Sad news for survival horror fans everywhere as Lilith Ltd announces the cancellation of its upcoming game Allison Road.

Originally, Allison Road started life as a humble £250,000 Kickstarter by Lilith Ltd before being picked up and backed by Team 17 instead. Its aim was to be a spiritual successor to P.T. and would act as consolation for the heartbreak that followed Konami’s cancellation of Silent Hills.

The announcement came by way of a simple tweet from the game’s official Twitter:

“Hi all. Sadly Allison Road had to be cancelled. Statement to come in the next few days. Thx for all your support and very sad it came 2 this”

Above is the 13-minute pre-alpha of the game released which showcases both its first-person survival horror approach and its intriguingly stark premise. The game would revolve around an unnamed protagonist who wakes up in a British town house with a headache, and looks for some aspirin – only to find elements of the house and its contents disturbingly familiar.

News of the games cancellation is surprising indeed given that it was speedily backed on Kickstarter before being snatched up by Team 17. Not only that, but recently, and in reference to the pre-alpha, the development team indicated that the game was nearing completion: “pretty much all of our core mechanics are in place, however, some actually didn’t make the cut-off for the video; the inventory is one of those things.”

No word was given as to why the game has been cancelled, and the only information we have so far is the official twitter announcement, which hardly minced words. With Silent Hills being cancelled, then P.T. being taken down, and now a spiritual successor being cancelled with no given reason, it seems that like the development of a decent first-person survival horror has been haunted from the start!
