Ace Attorney 6 Defending Rights Stateside This Fall

Later this year, Capcom plans to bring the sixth mainline entry for the Ace Attorney series stateside on Nintendo 3DS handheld systems.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney- Spirit of Justice is due to arrive in the U.S. sometime this September. Ace Attorney 6 will be released as an eShop exclusive, which means the game will only be available for download on 3DS and 2DS handhelds. A new English trailer went live today, confirming what Capcom said about a western release during the last year’s Tokyo Game Show.

Returning to the spotlight is defense attorney Phoenix Wright as he journeys to the fictitious land of Khura’in in order to defense his clients in a normally lawyer-less trial system. Joining Wright in his latest courtroom drama is Apollo Justice, last seen in Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies. Together, they both need to become more intimate with their spiritual sides as Khura’in is a land steeped in spirituality and mysticism.

Capcom hasn’t yet revealed a specific date for when Spirit of Justice besides the broad September launch window. We can gather from the trailer that the next installment will feature new gameplay mechanics involving séances as Wright and Apollo must use them to solve cases. And though the game has a heavy supernatural presence, Capcom has assured the public that plenty of Ace Attorney 6 will include gameplay similar to the puzzle solving elements found in previous titles.

To get ready for the game’s launch, Ace Attorney fans and people curious about the series can check out the Phoenix Wright anime on Crunchyroll. The anime is based on the first two games in this series. If that wasn’t enough, fans and newcomers can experience the first three Nintendo DS titles in a revamped trilogy collection Capcom released in 2014 for 3DS. People will probably want to play the other five games first before playing Spirit of Justice since it may have references to past titles.
