Globlins Review | The Game Where You Don’t Have to Apologize for Bursting Someone’s Bubble

Here’s the rundown on Cartoon Network’s newest mobile game, Globlins: An astronaut and his pet monkey return home to Spillsville after a journey to a faraway galaxy.  Little did they know, some foreign creatures tagged along for the ride and are infiltrating the brains of other Spillsville residents and it’s up to you to save them!

Globlins, colorful blob-like creatures with bright eyes and crooked smiles, giggle at you from the other side of the screen, while you figure out the quickest way possible to destroy them.  If you’ve played a lot of puzzle games, then you’re familiar with the general objective: clear the board.  In this case, the boards are the brains of the innocent neighbors, and your mission is to pop all of the globlins and free the people of these pesky critters.

1

To the right of every game board, you have your drop meter which shows you how many taps (or drops) you’re allowed to use.  While it may seem easy enough to just tap each globlin individually, that isn’t very strategic, and your drops will run out much sooner than you realize.  When a globlin is destroyed, goo flies off him (or her) in every direction, ricocheting off other globlins and destroying them as well.  This is called a chain reaction, and if you can figure out a smart solution to extinguish multiple globlins with one tap, then you’ve mastered the art of destruction.  Combinations (or chain reactions) also increase your points and reward you with more drops depending on how many globlins you’ve destroyed in that combo.  If you exceed the allowed amount of drops, the extra drops will be transformed into coins that you can spend on gadgets and power-ups.

In Globlins, you can use in-game currency (coins) to purchase gadgets and power-ups, including point boosts and extra drops, giving you more chances to clear the board.  As the worlds become more intricate, the boards become more difficult and you encounter obstacles, stronger globlins, and globlin bosses that will really put your bubble bursting skills to the test.  If you’re running low on coins, you can also purchase coin packages while playing, but do keep in mind, these coin packages cost actual money and not virtual currency.

2

In Globlins, you’ll find 60 levels spanning across multiple brains (or worlds) including Robo Lab, Brain Food, Top Dog, and Dino Crisis.  You can earn achievements, link Globlins to your Facebook and share those achievements and hi-scores with your friends, as well as track your Globlins progress in the iOS Game Center.

As a mobile game fanatic, I highly recommend tap-happy gamers to invest in Globlins; it’s fun, it’s addictive, and it’s the perfect on-the-go app to keep you busy whether you’re sitting on the train or waiting at the Doctor’s office.  What’s perfect about Globlins is that it’s not a repetitive process.  The levels become more difficult and you’re forced to challenge yourself and figure out new strategies, and that is what keeps things interesting.  If you like puzzles, strategy games, and adorable art styles, then Globlins is definitely for you.

Globlins can be found in the iTunes App Store for $1.99 and on Google Play for free!
