BlueStacks Announces New AAA Developers for GamePop

BlueStacks, the company that brings your favorite mobile games to your PCs and Macs, has announced a few new partnerships that could spell huge changes for the little company.

BlueStacks currently has a little device known as the GamePop in development that will allow gamers to play hundreds of mobile games. It’s a small, Android-powered game console that will allow you to play mobile games on practically any television.

This week at GDC the company announced they’ve added GREE, Ubisoft, and Warner Bros. Interactive to their ever-growing list of partners, bring big mobile titles to your even bigger screen.

The GamePop isn’t poised to take on the big dogs of home console gaming, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, but it does have its sights set on several competitors: GameStick, MOJO, NVIDIA SHIELD, and OUYA, to name a few.  With the recent influx of these sorts of gaming consoles, you’re certainly not going to be left wanting for choice. The major deciding factor could easily come down to which developers support the platform, and the GamePop certainly has snagged some big names to give it that push.

The GamePop will be available in two different versions: The GamePop for $129 and the GamePop Mini for free. Both include a controller and require a monthly subscription of $6.99 to access the service. The subscription allows you to access hundreds of top mobile games currently valued at $250, and that number is sure to grow with the new developers hopping on board.

GamePop is currently available for pre-order on GamePop.tv.
