Call of Duty: Ghosts New Multiplayer Modes

When much of your brand’s success depends on a studio’s ability to crank out new iterations, things have a lot of room to grow stale. When that brand’s success also depends on a multiplayer mode, that room grows exponentially. Fortunately, Call of Duty has largely been able to fight against stagnation, and this year’s entry looks to keep that tradition alive and well. Infinity Ward couldn’t be trying harder, either, with an entirely new universe rather than a sequel, but the campaign isn’t why the brand has gained so much traction. That comes in the popular multiplayer.

In a hands-on demo from Shack News, Infinity Ward revealed two new multiplayer modes coming to Call of Duty: Ghosts. The first is a mode that should bring back the insanity of old-school deathmatches: Cranked. In this mode, a player receives a speed bonus for a kill, but with a catch. The player must continue getting kills, or else they explode in 30 seconds. I, for one, can’t wait to try this in intense local matches.

The other is Search & Rescue, a blend of Search & Destroy and the always fun Kill Confirmed. Players have one life, and their teammates can revive them by recovering dog tags, or picking up enemy dog tags to eliminate players on the other team. The goal is to plant a bomb at a location, like in Search & Destroy. You can see gameplay of both new modes in the (very explicit) trailer below:

Call of Duty: Ghosts might not be a next-gen exclusive, but Infinity Ward is treating this new game with all the care and polish of any project. Look for it this November 5, when it hits most major platforms.
