The Outer Worlds is the most recent title from Obsidian Entertainment where you awake after being frozen for decades and you are trying to figure out your part in a deep conspiracy. We have put a little time into the game and we’ve found some tips that may help you early on in your journey of discovery.
Explore Early On
There are a lot of different items that are spread around the world and early on, you want to be sure to take advantage of this. The world currency will be scarce in the beginning but you shouldn’t need to buy anything if you take your time and explore. There are chests, random sheds, and enemies that all have items throughout the world. You will accumulate a ton of random items that can be sold for credits, broken down for crafting and items that expand the lore.
Get This Perk Early
Every 2 levels (even) you will gain a perk point. One of the best perks to take advantage of early on is the Traveler perk. This gives you the ability to fast travel while encumbered. When it comes to the western RPG, this is a game changer. This perk gives the player a sort of freedom when it comes to exploration and item discovery. Many gamers that play titles like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls know the struggle of finding great gear but not being able to run or fast travel when you don’t want to get rid some other things you are holding.
Try to Find All the Companions
Not only do the companions gift you with more fire power, they can also boost some of your attributes. Some of the companions help you with negotiations and other may give a boost to your hacking skill. They can really save a lot of time and resources depending on how you want to play the game. If you don’t do a lot of exploring, it is possible to miss out on a couple of these helpful characters. If you are having issues with a particular mission, try swapping your companions. You should be able to find most of them early in the game if you take your time and look around. Play around with different combos and have fun.
Do The Side Quests/Companion Quests
While explore the various regions of The Outer Worlds, you are going to encounter a ton of interesting characters. Talking to many of these characters may unlock various missions for you to complete. While playing through the game, we learned that completing different quest may award you gear or different dialog options when speaking to different characters throughout the world. It is easy to skip past a lot of these interactions but be sure to take advantage of the conversations. There is a lot to learn about the world and characters through these interactions.
Play With Your Attributes
When creating your character, players have the option to put extra points into various traits that fall under Mind, Body, and Personality. Depending on how you choose to distribute these points can change how you interact with the world. This is one of the best parts of The Outer Worlds. The variety of interactions with the various NPCs feels very good. Specing your character in a certain area could get you discounts from vendors, increase your hacking, decrease the cooldown for your companions, etc. The good thing about this is that you are able to respec your character so if you want to try a different play style or if you feel like you made a mistake, you are not stuck.
There is a lot of fun to be had with The Outer Worlds. Jump in, play around, and experiment with all of the tools you have at your disposal. There are still many strategies to learn and discover. Let us know some of the tips that you’ve found helpful.
