Bethesda has been on quite a roll and it almost feels like Wolfenstein: The New Order served as the catalyst for this relentless run of great titles. Since then Bethesda has gone on to publish the excellent Doom, Dishonored 2, and most recently Prey. Can they keep the train moving? It may be too early for Fallout 5 but there may be some more surprises waiting for us when Bethesda hits the stage this upcoming Sunday night.
5 Games We Want To See At The Bethesda Showcase
Wolfenstein: The New Order 2
This is simply a no-brainer and I would be shocked if this game isn’t how they open the show with. Wolfenstein was a critical darling but also a hit with gamers across the board. It’s frenetic fast-paced shooting, the over-the-top violence, and a pretty good story to boot made Wolfenstein one of the best games of 2014. Maybe we’ll see some sort of VR component?
The Evil Within 2
The Evil Within was a mind-numbing tour-de-force of macabre imagery and nightmarish scenarios. Shinji Mikami and the team at Tango Gameworks crafted a truly horrifying third-person game and while some parts were more frustrating than scary, the game took risks and became better as it went on. A sequel would make a great announcement and we’re just dying to see what else Shinji Mikami comes up with next.
Rage Remake
Rage should get the Prey treatment and be completely revisited with a new tone, new direction and a focus on asynchronous multiplayer. Bringing Rage back would be a total shocker but a positive one since the first game garnered many fans including myself. id Software is probably hard at work on a Doom sequel but boy would it be nice to see Rage make a glorious comeback on new hardware.
Elder Scrolls VI
This would totally bring the house down if Elder Scrolls VI got announced at the Bethesda showcase. It’s a game many Skyrim fans have been waiting for and it sure has been a long wait. It may still feel a bit early for this game to make an appearance and Bethesda will likely want to give it the Fallout treatment; unveiling the game on the same year it is released. Despite some loosely sourced rumors, the chances of the next Elder Scrolls being announced are slim but we’re still holding out hope we don’t have to wait too long to return to Tamriel.
Fallout: New York
Fallout: New Vegas is my favorite Fallout game and I would love for the team at Obsidian to tackle New York as the next spin-off. New York may altogether warrant a full-fledged sequel ala Fallout 5 but I would gladly take a New Vegas spin on it. There can never be too much Fallout and I hope we hear more about Fallout at the showcase. I just hope it’s not about Fallout Shelter because I’m pretty much over that.
