5 Biggest Games We Missed at this Year’s E3

While E3 2019 felt mostly like a year in transition as the industry prepares for a next-generation shift, the big show brought about some exciting announcements and updates to some of our favorite games. New IPs like Ghostwire Tokyo, Bleeding Edge, and DeathLoop were definitely enough to whet our appetite but there’s no denying there are some games we dearly missed. Sony’s absence was surely felt this year but there were quite a few other titles from other publishers that were missing in action.

5. Bayonetta 3

The fashionable, deadly witch herself eluded us this year as Nintendo continues to play Bayonetta 3 close to it’s chest. We haven’t received a release date yet and gameplay footage has been scarce. We thought this year would be the year for a Bayonetta 3 blowout at E3 2019 but maybe a Gamescom reveal is in the cards. PlatinumGames has a lot of titles in the pipeline from Astral Chain to Granblue Fantasy: Relink so it’s understandable why Bayonetta 3 continues to hide from the spotlight. Lets just hope we don’t have to wait for long.

4.  Skull and Bones

Skull and Bones had a big presence at last year’s E3 but the piracy naval combat game shied away from the plank this year. There was absolutely no update on this game which was strange because Ubisoft’s show felt a bit lacking without it. Naval combat in the Assassin’s Creed games is a favorite of ours and Skull and Bones looks to expand on that kind of gameplay. The lore looks deep and the graphics looks sweet, Skull and Bones is one game we can’t wait to play.

3. Babylon’s Fall

Well, what do you know? Yet another PlatinumGames title makes the list. We’re not sure how PlatinumGames is able to churn out this many games in such quick succession but we’re really upset we didn’t get to see this gorgeous new IP. Square Enix hoped to share more about the game this year but so far nothing new has been revealed. All we know about Babylon’s Fall is that it is a “new challenge for PlatinumGames” as said by studio head,  Atsushi Inaba.

2. Dragon Age 4

You would think with the mediocre reception from Anthem and Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, EA would want to flip the script and show something new from one of it’s most prized IPs. Unfortunately, this was not the case as the bulk of EA’s showing at this year’s E3 2019 was reserved mainly for Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. Fallen Order looked good but we’re feeling a bit of Star Wars fatigue and we’re itching to get back into the world of Dragon Age.

1. Fable 4

Fable 4’s absence was quite puzzling. The stage was set for Microsoft to bust the doors open for a grand return for the storied IP and yet no hint was even given. Microsoft’s presser was a fine show but it really needed a big reveal like Fable 4, something akin to how Sony handled Horizon: Zero Dawn’s debut. Wouldn’t that be amazing? We know it’s coming but how much longer do we have to wait?

Do you agree with our list? Is there anything we missed? Feel free to sound off below. We omitted The Last of Us and Ghost of Tsushima since Sony opted to skip E3.
