2016’s Call of Duty May Be ‘Infinite Warfare’

A photo has been released that has hinted at the title for Infinity Ward’s next Call of Duty game; it seems the next game in the juggernaut franchise will be called Infinite Warfare.

The US PlayStation store briefly featured the title at the top of its ‘Trending’ section as an empty entry that held no other information. It has since been taken down.

There have been strong rumours in circulation – from NeoGAF user and industry insider shinobi602 – for a while now that the next game would be set in the “Very far future. Space Combat. Full on Sci-Fi.” Certainly the title lends itself quite well to the idea of far-flung futuristic combat. This is a natural next step after Call of Duty: Ghosts, which took the series forward into an alternate timeline near-future setting, and allowed for the use of future tech and weaponry. Further steps in this direction seem inevitable, and the further into the future they take the franchise, the more freedom they have to experiment.

There have also been a leaked retailer documents which point to a possible reveal of the upcoming game by May 3rd. It seems we won’t have to wait long before we have some concrete word.

Activision has not made any comment on the leak, perhaps because they are waiting to reveal the title officially themselves.
