Xbox One Sales Figures Pass 3 Million

In case you weren’t aware. Microsoft has made it common knowledge that three million Xbox One consoles were sold worldwide before the end of 2013.

“World wide” may be a bit misleading, because it only includes the sales figures in 13 countries, but that just means that the new box is probably doing even better than that number indicates. In a post on Xbox Wire, Yusef Mehdi — Xbox corporate vice president of marketing, strategy, and business – said the figure includes sales in 13 countries.

Yusef Mehdi, Xbox corporate vice president of marketing, strategy, and business, said that:

“It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November. Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible. The reaction from our fans was mind-blowing for our team,” he continued. “As we see your excitement, your energy and your hours of gameplay, we continue to be inspired to do great work – for you.”

This is in comparison to the last known figures from Sony, stating that only 2.1 million PlayStation 4 consoles had been sold as of early December, though Sony hasn’t announced sales numbers since the end of the year.

Mehdi added that he expects 2014 to be a “promising year,” pointing to upcoming releases including Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, Project Spark, and many more. How many more? Lets roll the tape:

Obviously 2014 looks exciting, and not just for Microsoft and the Xbox One, those are some slick looking titles on all systems.
