Xbox Fitness was announced in 2013 as a service coming to the Xbox One. As of September the claim was that it would remain free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers until the end of December 2014. Well if you found yourself enjoying the video workouts, then rejoice because Microsoft is extending the free service’s cut off date indefinitely:
“While some of the content available will change in January, Xbox Fitness will continue to offer free and unlimited access to a wide fitness video catalog with your Xbox Live Gold membership, as well as the option to purchase additional full programs with Gold and Silver memberships.”
Fitness interests me personally as an Exercise Science major at my local university. The change in January, offering additional types of workouts for purchase, is a good idea. The leading causes of failure in any exercise regimen is complacency, as it leads to boredom and a lack of physical improvement. It’s unknown if the basic Xbox Fitness service will be offered to Xbox Live Gold members permanently, but Microsoft has yet to announce a cutoff date in 2015. If access to the Xbox Fitness catalog is something that interests you, maybe you should consider that Xbox Live Gold subscription a little harder, if you don’t have it already.
