If the announcement that the Ultimate Warrior was going to be in WWE 2K14 wasn’t enough to get you interested, maybe getting to play through the entire history of Wrestlemania will. 2K announced today that WWE 2K14 – a series they inherited after THQ fell apart – will include the single-player Thirty Years of Wrestlemania mode, which is exactly what it sounds like. You’ll play through pivotal moments throughout pro wrestling’s biggest yearly spectacle, as the WWE will be celebrating Wrestlemania‘s 30th anniversary next year as well. The news also confirms that Hulk Hogan, one of the industry’s biggest names ever (and who currently works for WWE’s only major competitor), will be a playable character in the game, as will Andre the Giant.
WWE 2K14 is shaping up to be much bigger than WWE 13, which featured a single-player mode based on “The Attitude Era” of the 90’s/early 2000’s. It looks like gameplay will be similar, with reports of improved character movements, new finishers, and the ability to perform certain moves in the air as well as on multiple opponents at the same time.
Since 2K has a history of releasing their sports games on PC as well as consoles, but so far only the PS3 and Xbox 360 have been confirmed as getting the game, which will launch October 29th. The full roster for the game is expected to be released on August 17th.
