This World of Warcraft Player Reached Max Level the Old Fashioned Way

Leveling your character in World of Warcraft is nowhere near as difficult as it used to be. In fact, it’s actually pretty easy.

Thanks to an overhaul of the game’s original zones, equipment that offers bonus experience gains, the dungeon finder tool, and a more streamlined questing process, reaching max level from the very beginning has never been easier. Of course, easier isn’t necessarily better. That’s what Reddit user iSxP thinks, anyway.

“As a player from the Burning Crusade, I wanted a “old school” leveling experience, that of no dungeons (dungeon finder), PvP, Leveling Gear (BOA), assistance from higher levels, bought gold, or anything of the sort. I started with a single quest in Deathknell, and followed that one quest chain all the way to Level 110 (2420 Quests Completed).

Overall I had very enjoyable time, I loved the game just as much as my younger self once had.”

To their point, the leveling experience has become less about the journey it once stood for and more about a roadblock for the “real game” that awaits at max level. Players aren’t experiencing the World of Warcraft (pun intended) anymore; they’re experiencing instances, cities, and garrisons. I’m not saying the old methods of leveling are perfect; they’re not. In fact, they’re still slow and (at times) tedious. iSxP said it took them over 5 days of in-game played time lasting from July until September to complete. Still, it’s nice to see people experience the “good old days” despite more modern and convenient options at our disposal.

A full video playlist of the entire journey is available on YouTube. It’s over 2 hours long, but well worth your time if you enjoy seeing the experience bar fill up over and over.
