The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Delayed Until February 2015

Were you looking forward to playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sometime later this year? If that’s the case, then I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news.

Developer CD Projekt RED sent an email out today saying that they have delayed the ambitious RPG until February 2015.

“We recently reexamined what we had achieve thus far,” the email reads, “and faced a choice about the game’s final release date. The decision we made was difficult, thoroughly considered, and ultimate clear and obvious. We could have released the game towards the end of this year as we had initially planned. Yet we concluded that a few additional months will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us.”

The email also included a message for both the fans and company shareholders. The address to gamers acknowledges that they want to play Witcher 3 as soon as possible, but CD Projekt RED doesn’t want to release the product before it’s ready. When talking to the company’s shareholders, the developers stressed that releasing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at its highest quality is best for business.

Pretty standard stuff here: the game’s delayed to help ensure it achieves expectations upon release, the developer understands your pain but ultimately this is a win win for everyone. Gamers will just have to wait until after the Holiday hustle dies down to enjoy The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2015. At least you now have something to do while you complain about the never-ending Winter of 2015?
