The Hype Machine: Fight Night Champion

The Fight Night Champion demo has been out for almost a week now, and you can bet that we’ve played the heck out of it; in fact me and @fanatical_g have duked it out in a few online bouts. We won’t mention who came out on top (to save a certain fanatic from embarrassment ;)), but we’ll just say we both enjoyed the experience. Its been awhile since the last time either of us have played a boxing game., in fact, the last boxing game I recall myself playing is Ready 2 Rumble Boxing.

Floatin' like a butterfly!

In this game we have to credit EA Sports; the job they did in pushing the envelope is phenomenal, and this was just a demo! The realism in Fight Night Champion was much better than we expected and knockouts felt so rewarding; EA Sports really captured the atmosphere and feel for the sport of boxing, everything from your boxer’s entrance to the way the commentators react to certain in-game situations. Also this year they’ve brought a more in-depth career mode to the table: Champion, which is more of a story mode where you, the main character,  start off as a scrub who struggles to find a way to become the new face of boxing. Along with the trials of advancing past tough opponents, you’re also faced  with the ups and downs that your life of nose-bashing incurs, bothinside and out the ring. The trailer that came with the demo has us so pumped for the new mode; everyone loves a Cinderella story!

Stingin' like a bee!

Along with the new Champion mode, Fight night Champion brings Full Spectrum Punch Control, Authentic Content, Legacy Mode ,and the breath taking graphics, there shouldn’t be a reason to say no to this game. The controls feel right, the option to use the joystick or mash the buttons is a welcome change, and overall the boxing experience surpasses that of the competition from UFC 2010 and EA MMA. Fight Night Champion will bring the energy to your living room March 1, 2011.
