Why I’m Not Buying the Xbox One

It’s a disaster, it’s an incredible mess.

All opinions in this article are of my own and in no way reflect the views of The Game Fanatics.

Don’t confuse Microsoft’s recent alterations of the Xbox One with love of their gamers, they had to save their ass.

When internet polls show the favor for PS4 over Xbox One as high as 89% to 11%, their upcoming console was as good as dead and they knew something needed to be done.

Or else.
Or else.

Xbox One had a handful of risky bullet points featured, from a no game sharing belief to a change in their focus, and MS decided to give up what would affect their future plan the least.

Microsoft is still set on expanding from the gamer arena –and some may say putting their current customers on the back burner– in favor of pursuing their long known “taking over the living room” campaign.

Recently we’ve seen exactly what that journey consists of and what they’re willing to do for it; exemplified by their behavior towards the community that carried the company to where they are now.

Comments ranging from “Deal with it” in regards to the Xbox One’s unfavorable features to “Fortunately we have a product for people who aren’t able to get some form of connectivity; it’s called Xbox 360” to snatching microphones away from interviewers mid-sentence. Absurd.

It’s amazing how after highly ranked Microsoft employees have come out to basically say “We don’t give a shit, either buy one and deal with it or don’t and buy a 360” and people are still willing to pay and support a company that obviously doesn’t have their customers interests front and center.

I’m all for companies having their agendas to progress the medium and steer it in directions that may be unfamiliar and potentially fruitful and this has nothing to do with the more than solid Xbox One, it’s about respect. Microsoft has, quite frankly, shown no respect.

Like an animal pinned into a corner they’ve lashed out at everyone ranging from the public to members of the media, people who they want to buy their product and people who are to review and advertise their product. I cannot do either for them after the past few weeks.

After wavering initially, I have decided am not going to buy an Xbox One and will in no way support the Scumbag Steve of gaming until vast measures are taken to repair their relationship with gamers. It’s not impossible and I won’t hold the grudge, Sony has gone from the bottom to working themselves back up, Microsoft has that same opportunity, but first they must change their tune.
