Well, another E3 has come and (as far as I’m concerned) gone, and as always, people are dividing up and taking sides. So who’s side did I end up taking this year?Who do I think got the point across of where the future of gaming is going better than any other this year?
That’s right. My vote is in for the Nintendo Wii U.
A lot of people will argue against me on this, but the fact of the matter is they are offering something that no other company can offer me, no matter how much they want to…all of my favorite childhood franchises, from the 80’s on up to now, in full 1080p high definition glory.
Now anybody that knows me knows I’m more about gameplay than anything. On both my PS3 and Nintendo Wii if you were to look at the games with the most logged hours, that would probably go to Super Puzzle Fighter II turbo and Puyo Puyo II respectively, so it’s never been about the graphics to me. However…
I have had dreams about my favorite characters and what they might look like with all the power of a PS3 coursing through their veins. At this years E3, the Zelda demo gave us our first glance…and it was GLORIOUS. I couldn’t get enough of it. Sure it was about 2 minutes long tops, and sure people didn’t even really get to play, only controlling the time of day, the camera, and a few other things here and there, but what I couldn’t take my eyes off of, was just how awesome the Zelda setting and characters looked and how pumped it got me for a playthrough.
I’m not even gonna lie to you…if they told me the only Zelda games coming to Wii U would be remakes of Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past, you can bet your butt I will be first in line to see all of my favorite locations and characters popping of of my screen and into my lap in glorious 1080p. People can hate as much as they want to about the system’s possible capability of only being able to use one Wiipad per system, but as far as I’m concerned, I wasn’t planning on sharing this damn thing anyway.
