There are always a ton of games to play but that doesn’t stop us from getting into a gaming rut every now and then. It is often easy to jump into a game we are familiar with for a quick session but sometimes, many of us don’t feel like playing some of our favorite games. In times like this, I look towards smaller or independent games. This time, I decided to jump into Rogue Legacy 2. Now, this is not my first time trying out this game. I spent some time with Rogue Legacy 2 when it was released on the Xbox last year and I had a ton of fun.
The concept of a rogue-lite has been around for years now but the concept of heirs is where this game really shines. You play with different characters and abilities each time and this keeps things fresh. If you are not familiar with Rogue Legacy, it is a rogue-lite where your heirs inherit your abilities and flaws after each run. Each time you enter a run, the map is randomly generated with different enemies and obstacles. After each death, you take the money you earn to make all of your characters stronger by purchasing new armor and skills.
When I get into these ruts, playing games with new and unique aspects gives me a boost of excitement for games in general. Rogue Legacy 2 is not easy and you will end up playing the same “level” over and over again. The randomly generated levels and new character abilities (and flaws) keep things fresh and interesting. I really think this is a game that will be interesting to you whether you are into rogue-lites or not.
You can get Rogue Legacy 2 on all platforms for $24.99 or as a part of PS Plus at the moment.
