A series of leaked marketing materials received by Kotaku indicates that Ubisoft Montreal‘s upcoming open-world thriller, Watch Dogs, will be released during the 2013 Holiday Season.
The image below states that the game will be available on “All Home Consoles,” suggesting that Sony and/or Microsoft will have its next console out this year. However, it is uncertain whether or not Watch Dogs would technically be a launch title. You will also notice the quote from G4, “Truly a Next-Gen Adventure.”
Despite the news, GameStop and other online retailers have not begun accepting preorders.
Kotaku reached out to Ubisoft, but the publisher commented neither on the game’s release nor the consoles it will appear on. Vice President of Sales and Marketing Tony Key acknowledged the game’s mark in the evolution of Ubisoft’s projects:
“The game is an original IP that has been created from the ground up at Ubisoft Montreal with inspiration from many titles and ideas the studio has worked on throughout the years.”
The promotional materials have not indicated anything regarding Watch Dogs’ release on PC, but, as you may recall, last year’s E3 demo was run on a PC platform.
Watch Dogs has been under the radar since its debut at last year’s E3, so this is a reassuring step for gamers & media who were impressed by Ubisoft’s presentation last spring but have since been waiting for more.
