While there wasn’t much at Bethesda’s conference that was jaw-dropping they did announce a new game from Arkane Studios, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider.
The game will be a complete standalone adventure starring the supernatural assassin Daud and his returning apprentice Billie Lurk. Their goal is to pull off the greatest assassination in history. Their target: the mysterious entity gifting people with extraordinary powers known as The Outsider. The hope being that with his death, the source of all chaos in the world will end.
The trailer is all preanimated but it does hold some interesting details. Most notable is Billie Lurk, last seen in Dishonored 2 as a physically disabled ship captain called Meagan Foster, has now been equipped with a prosthetic arm and eye. She even uses the arm to zap a thug she’s fighting.
Details are scarce at this time about actual gameplay, but I can speculate that Dishonored: Death of the Outsider will allow players to choose to play as either Daud or Billie Lurk, similar to how the last game had two playable heroes. One with familiar abilities and skills taken from their last adventures, and one with a completely unique power set. Also, more of the franchise’s award-winning level design of playing how you see like; as a shadowy assassin, a ruthless butcher, or anything inbetween.
It will be available on September 15 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on disc and will be sold at $29.99.
