Voodoo Vince: Remastered Coming Next Month, Playable at PAX East

Voodoo Vince: Remastered

Microsoft announced today that Voodoo Vince: Remastered will be available on April 18. The game will be released on Xbox One, Windows Store, and Steam. The game will be priced at $15.

A remake of the 2003 original Xbox title, Voodoo Vince: Remastered is being developed by Beep Industries, the same studio behind the original. Creator Clayton Kauzlaric, who now works at Microsoft, was involved in development. The game follows Vince, a voodoo doll brought to life, as he searches for his owner. Along the way, he will solve puzzles, often by inflicting harm on himself, to defeat enemies and move through levels.

The game has never been playable outside of the original Xbox. In an earlier Xbox news post, Kauzlaric said the game’s engine was to blame. “Our engine used some convoluted custom code that made Vince ineligible for Backward Compatibility during the Xbox 360 era,” said Kauzlaric. In addition to running at 1080p and 60 fps, the game will also integrate features missing from the first release, such as rumble. “We’ve got profiles and achievements. We never finished hooking up Rumble in the original game, so yay: We have vibrate-y goodness,” said Kauzlaric. While the game will have new features, Kauzlaric said the gameplay will remain mostly untouched.

Microsoft said in a news post that Kauzlaric will be at PAX East this weekend. Voodoo Vince: Remastered will be playable for the first time at the show. In addition to Voodoo Vince, Beep Industries has also developed a series of word and puzzle games for casual games service GameHouse. Voodoo Vince: Remastered is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. Those who purchase it on the Xbox or Windows Store will be able to play it on either platform.
