Just announced by Microsoft Director of Programming Larry Hryb, Reddit, one of the most popular and biggest mega-thread on the internet, is getting itself it’s very first app on the Xbox One console and has been named ReddX.
Microsoft just dropped the news on their YouTube channel announcing Reddit’s first and only app for the console. Aside from mispronouncing the name of a certain extension file, Hyrb talks about Reddit being one of his favorite things on the internet and how easy it is to navigate through the ReddX app.
Given the Xbox One‘s knack for seamless interaction with various things on the screen, Hryb demonstrated the easiness of browsing various subreddits, commenting, upvoting and viewing pictures. He also added to the demonstration by showcasing how easy it is to snap to the app via voice command, which shows up on the side as you play a few games or watch TV. Embedded YouTube videos will automatically start playing as you view the particular link post and ReddX also allows for users to fast forward, stop or rewind animated GIF’s.
“Last month, Reddit had more than 114 million unique visitors, with more than 190 countries, passing more than 122 million votes with more than 5 billion pages served. That’s some serious community involvement,” Hryb said.
Gamers who own an Xbox One can download ReddX now for free right now. The partnership between Reddit and Microsoft should be a testament for better things to come for the console and it could also birth new gamers among those within the Reddit community.
