January starts strong on the AAA side with the arrival of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the cradle of all terrors. There’s also space for some Japanese craze, the first paid DLC for Call of Duty: Infinity Warfare, and some indie proposals as well. Fasten your seat belt and here we go!
Gravity Rush 2
Platforms: PlayStation 4
Release Date: January 20
Gravity Rush 2 comes exclusively on PlayStation 4 this time, looking as dazzling as ever. Sequels are never any good, they say, but in the case of Gravity Rush, it seems as if this second part was making the saga (and the players) a favor. Everything we have seen from it oozes swift action and dynamic gameplay, which is exactly what we can demand from this title.
The core mechanic of Gravity Rush 2 revolves once again around controlling gravitation to allow unique movement and styles. And things start adding up from that point. There are more colors, more characters on screen, a protagonist with more abilities, more expansive cities, and even a ghost city boss to defeat. Interesting title for those addicted to energy and a Japanese vibe.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Truth be told, Resident Evil does not require further presentation. There are not so many things we can say about this title since the demo came out – and oh boy, what a demo that was. Not suitable for feeble hearts, the seventh installment of Resident Evil comes to make our nightmares real. Set almost four years after the sixth game, Biohazard ventures on a new take with a fresh lineup of characters.
We’ll accompany Ethan Winters as he puts foot on a creepy as hell mansion, searching for his missing wife. This time you don’t have to worry about immersion – Capcom has taken care of that for you. The first person perspective will surely make your minds cringe, specially if you are playing with a VR set device (only for PlayStation users, though). Also, quick time events have been completely ditched from this installment.
Tales of Berseria
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4
Release Date: January 24 (PS4), January 27 (PC)
Fans of the Tales series can finally put their calendars down and sigh with relief. After a lot of waiting, Tales of Berseria is getting a worldwide launch. Released in Japan back in August, all the trailers and screenshots sing a much darker tune than previous games – plus a female protagonist. Although gameplay-wise Tales of Berseria does not distance itself from previous games, there is a main novelty in battle, the Soul Gauge. This sort of scale is replacing the move-governing mechanic of other Tales titles and granting combats with extra attack abilities never seen before.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare – Sabotage DLC

Release Date: January 31
Ok, Sabotage is more of a paid DLC than a fair new game in this list; however, it deserves a place of its own for bringing a lot of new content to its multiplayer modes and also an extra zombie misadventure. Sabotage adds four new maps: Noir, Renaissance, Neon, and Dominion, taking you from the streets of a rainy Brooklyn to a Modern Warfare 2 remake of the classic map Afghan. Fans of the absurd will probably find Rave in the Redwood to their liking as well. This is Call of Duty trying to inject a little bit of funny friskiness to the serious theater of war of the main campaign.
Divide
Platforms: PlayStation 4

Divide is a rather unknown contender in the list of January games but it scores a place of its own. It’s probably a combination between its isometric view, the cyberpunk, almost retro, feeling to it and the fact that it places story at the top of the player experience. With Divide we follow the steps of a father strapped away from his daughter – not a commando, not a hero, just a normal guy. As we traverse the levels we will need to interact with objects, converse with different characters and also escape from armed encounters. Divide does not look like a high-paced action game but there are combats and also, the possibility of avoiding them altogether with some stealthy abilities.
Its developer, Stuba Studios, has confirmed that a PC version will arrive later in 2017 as well. For the moment though, it launches as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
Conan Exiles
Platforms: PC (Early Access on Steam)
Release Date: January 31
Since the Age of Conan MMO got released back in 2008, fans of the Cimmerian have been waiting for a new open world experience – until now. Conan Exiles is meant to be a fresh take on the genre and comes with everything you would expect in an online sandbox. Survival, building and domination are core aspects and although you are supposed to partake on public servers and everything they entail, there’s the option of playing alone as well.
